Mallaiyadipatti Is at a distance of 34 kms from Pudukkottai and 17 kms from Keeranur on the Killukkottai route. There are two interesting cave temples for Vishnu and Shiva cut into the same rock. The cave temples are fine examples of ancient art base relief and sculptures.

Thiruvengaivasal The Vyagapuriswara-Brahadambal temple is 6 kms on the Pudukkottai-Thiruchirapalli road. The temple was originally a Chola structure built in the 11th century. The Pandyas subsequently renovated it. The inscriptions in the temples, an important source for the study of the socio-political history of the area. The Dakshinamoorthy is a beautiful sculpture in this temple.

Keeranur Is about 30 kms from Pudukkottai on the way to Thiruchirapalli. It was an important locality in the middle ages. The Uthama Nathaswami temple here has a Mutharaya edifice. The temple has epigraphs of the Cholas and Vijayanagar.

Avudayarkoil Is 50 kms from Pudukkottai and 13 kms from Aranthangi. The temple of Athmanathaswami has an honoured place in the history of Shaivism Aavudaiyarkoil is calledThiruperundurai in inscriptions and intimately associated with the Saint Manikkavakar. The festivals deity of the temple is the Saint Manikkavakar, not of the Lord Shiva.
This is a special feature in the Hindu religious practice in Tamil Nadu. The remarkable temple is artistically known for its sculptures. Another remarkable aspect of the temple is the stone cornice called Kodunkai in the Mandapam. There are some fine murals in the temple.

Thirumayam is 18 kms from Pudukottai. The Siva and Vishnu rockcut cave temples and the fort are the objects of attraction here. The cave Temples belong to 9th Century A.D. The Vishnu temple is called Adirangam and sing by Thirumangai Alwar. The Sive cave temple has fine Sculptures.

Marthamalai is 18 kms from Pudukkottai and 31 kms from Thiruchi. The structural Viyayalaya Cholisvaram, in vesara style of architecture (10th Century AD). The Mariamman temple is very popular in this region attracts a large crowd during the car festival in the Monty of April.

Kudumiyan Mala

Viralimalai: Viralimalai is 35km from Pudukkottai and 25Km from Tiruchirappalli, on the highway to Madurai. It is one of the well known places of worship of Lord Subramanya. This temple is situated majestically on the hilllock. The Lord here was sung by the Saint Arunagiri Nathar. Vaikasi Visakam, Thaipoosam, Panguini Uthiram, Karthigai are important festivals in this temple. Viralimalai is a natural sanctuary for Peacocks.
